Consumers are prompted to opt-in to mobile communities or clubs built around specific brands or products. The mobile community can be promoted via online, SMS/MMS advertsising, SMS/MMS campaigns and printed and point-of-sale material to drive awareness and prompt registration. To register the consumers need to submit their basic demographic data. Upon registration consumers receive a welcome message and then periodically members will receive branded messages, promotional gifts, downloads and tips from the sponsor.
In most mobile communities, mobile phone users can now create their own user generated content; creating own profiles, make friends, participate in chat rooms, create chat rooms, hold private conversations, share photos and videos, share blogs all through their mobile phone. This form of interaction is mobile social networking.
